Raised in a volcano crater in the South Island of New Zealand, Simon is an award winning filmmaker, a photographer, an actor and acting coach.
In early 2023 he completed an MA in Directing Fiction at The National Film & Television School. He has also recieved development and funding support from The New Zealand Film Commission and his films have been selected in competition at prestigious Academy Award, BAFTA, BIFA & EFA qualifying international film festivals around the world. His work often explores darker themes and difficult subject matter, yet always through a humanist lens — anchored in the essential vulnerability of us all.
As an actor, he’s worked for over two decades in everything from international touring theatre and indie films to American crime drama and blockbuster films. This has also led him into working as an acting coach on international dramas, supporting actors on set and in rehearsal to bring out truly authentic performances.
Discovering photography through an Olympus OM in his teens, his work now spans architectural, events, portraiture and environment.
